Pattern Making I

Curriculum:

Understanding the body

Taking measurements for patterns

Breaking down the measurements to develop slopers for pants

Breaking down the measurements to develop slopers for tops

Drafting slopers
-
The basics of draping on a dress form
-
Draping through the shrink wrap method
-
Trouble shooting and fit corrections
-
Test fitting muslins made from slopers and making fit corrections
At the completion of the class, students should know how to draft basic, well fitting slopers and be prepared for level II which is to cover using slopers to make pattens for clothing
Pattern Making II
$800 | 8 weeks
It is assumed that students for level II must have completed level I, or assessed to have enough knowledge of slopers to forgo level II of our program
Curriculum:

Designing patterns for shirts, pants and outerwear and developing them from existing slopers

Understanding pattern notches and their purpose and usage

Labelling patterns and garment parts(terminologies)

Understanding seam allowances where to add them and how to use them

Developing patterns for pockets, pocket facings, collars etc

Developing fly pieces, waistbands etc

Developing linings for pants and jackets
-
The basics of linear and non linear grading and their usage

Production patterns vs custom made clothing patterns
At the completion of the class, students must have a basic knowledge and be able to execute at least 70% of the applications covered In the class at a competent level in order to move to level 3
Pattern making III
$1200 | 12 weeks
It is assumed that students for level III must have completed level II, or assessed to have enough knowledge of slopers, basic pattern making and terminologies to forgo level III of our program

Making patterns for jeans/ casual pants

Making patterns for basic dress shirts

Making patterns for fitted tees

Working with patterns for wovens vs knits

Making patterns for tailored clothing

Linings, interlinings and fusing patterns

Understanding a cutters must

Grading nests

Preparing patterns for production
At the completion, students should be able to make standard patterns for different garments, be able to adapt them to new styles and also prepare them for production of garments.
